Position Title: Assistant Professor (fixed term)
Number of Positions: One position in Natural Sciences / One position in Computer Science

Field of Expertise: The Center for Computational Sciences promotes interdisciplinary computational sciences through the development of high-performance computing systems and network technologies, as well as research utilizing these technologies for large-scale simulations and data analysis in various scientific fields including particle physics, astrophysics, nuclear physics, materials science, life sciences, earth sciences, and environmental sciences.
[Natural Sciences]
The successful candidate will belong to one of the Divisions of Particle Physics, Astrophysics, Nuclear Physics, Quantum Condensed Matter Physics, Life Sciences, or Global Environmental Science and engage in research and education activities as an assistant professor. Based on the candidate’s expertise, he/she will also teach in one of the educational organizations including the School of Science and Engineering, the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, the Degree Programs in Pure and Applied Sciences, and the Degree Programs in Life and Earth Sciences.

The successful candidate will belong to either the Division of High-Performance Computing Systems or the Division of Computational Informatics and engage in research and education activities as an assistant professor. Based on the candidate’s expertise, he/she will also teach in one of the educational organizations including the School of Science and Engineering, School of Informatics, or Degree Programs in Systems and Information Engineering.
Starting date: April 1st, 2027 (Earlier appointment may be possible depending on the candidate’s circumstances)
Period: Five years from the date of appointment. Based on performance evaluations during the appointment period, the candidate may transition to a position without a fixed term.
Requirement: Applicants must have a doctoral degree. Applicants should have an excellent research record in their field and a strong motivation to promote interdisciplinary computational sciences.

- Up to five major papers (at least four of which were published within the last five years)

- Recommendation letters or contact information of two references
