On September 24, Acad. Nikolai Denkov, Member of Parliament, former Prime Minister of Bulgaria and a scientist, Petar Nikolaev, First Secretary of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Japan, and Dr. Lidia Vitanova, Senior Researcher at the GATE Institute, visited the Center for Computational Sciences (CCS) at the University of Tsukuba and held discussions with Professor Takashi Nakatsukasa, Vice Director of CCS.
The discussions covered the achievements of past joint research between the GATE Institute and CCS, as well as an overview of the University of Tsukuba, the history of CCS, and its research fields.
Following the discussions, the delegation toured the supercomputer Pegasus, which is operated by CCS.
Collaborative research between the University of Tsukuba and the GATE Institute is clearly stated in the “Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between Japan and the Republic of Bulgaria”, which was signed in May this year. This visit marked an important opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations and promote future research collaboration.
