HAC2008

International Workshop on Hybrid Architecture Computing 2008

to be held within

IEEE Cluster 2008

Tsukuba, Japan  October 1st, 2008

Sponsored by Center for Computational Sciences, University of Tsukuba

WORKSHOP SCOPE

Large scale hybrid architecture computers which incorporate general purpose processors and computation accelerators in single system are considered as very strong and promised system to support wide area of high performance computing. Recently, various types of accelerator hardware such as ClearSpeed, GRAPE, FPGA, Cell Broadband Engine and GPGPU are ready to be attached with general purpose microprocessors, which realize very large scale and extremely powerful clusters for high-end computing. In last June, finally a Peta-FLOPS computer has appeared as LANL Roadrunner which is powered by Cell Broadband Engine.

In this workshop, various types and fields of hybrid architecture computing systems are introduced. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss these hybrid systems from several aspects such as hardware, software, application, environment, etc. There are two keynote talks on LANL Roadrunner and TITECH TSUBAME which are representative large-scale hybrid computer systems as well as four invited talks on hybrid architecture, accelerator hardware, hybrid cluster system and real application.
